Description
C Major Pentatonic (C3-C5) The Colossus Chimes are the largest and most immersive instrument in the Percussion Play tubular bell family. Featuring 11 towering chimes tuned to the C Major Pentatonic scale (C3-C5), this extraordinary outdoor sound sculpture delivers a powerful range of tones that encompasses the complete pitch spectrum of both the Tubular Bells and Emperor Chimes. Designed as a highly sensory and interactive experience, the installation invites visitors to strike the chimes with large, tethered mallets to create rich, resonant sounds and powerful vibrations felt throughout the body. The instrument's scale allows players to experience sound in a uniquely physical way, encouraging exploration through touch as well as hearing. This makes the Colossus Chimes especially engaging in inclusive and sensory-focused environments, where vibration can provide an additional pathway to experiencing music. Combining monumental scale, architectural beauty, and exceptional acoustic performance, the Colossus Chimes create unforgettable musical encounters in parks, gardens, visitor attractions, and public spaces.
