Description
C Major Diatonic (C3-C4) The Diatonic Tembos are a collection of striking outdoor aerophones that create sound in a truly unique way. Unlike traditional percussion instruments, Tembos are plosive aerophones, producing music through vibrating air inside the tubes. Players strike the ends of the stainless-steel pipes with the supplied paddles, sending a pulse of air through the tube to create rich, resonant notes and surprisingly deep sounds. Named after the Swahili word "Tembo", meaning elephant, the instruments take their inspiration from the appearance of a group of elephant trunks reaching skyward. Tuned to the C Major Diatonic scale (C3-C4), the Diatonic Tembos offer a familiar musical layout that encourages experimentation, musical discovery, and collaborative outdoor play. Their unusual playing technique not only creates distinctive music but also demonstrates the scientific principles of sound, resonance, and vibration, making them an engaging addition to STEAM-focused learning environments.
